About Us

Blue Silo Aquaculture intends to operate in the Gulf of Mexico using idle offshore oil and gas platforms as operating bases. These polyculture operations will include finfish, shellfish and algae production in a sustainable and symbiotic environment. The highly nutrient rich environment caused by the finfish activity is expected to enhance the growth cycle of the shellfish and the algae.

Operating in conjunction with Gulf Offshore Research Institute (ref: https://www.gulfoffshoreresearch.com/) , Blue Silo Aquaculture is one of several operations which will take advantage of the existing offshore infrastructure.

These platforms sit in a pristine environment of clean blue ocean waters on the US Continental Shelf of the Gulf of Mexico, which provide a disease free, highly oxygenated habitat. The platforms will provide space for living quarters and labs, feeding systems, data collection and transmission and tender boat storage. In addition, the structures will also give the finfish submersible sea pens, shellfish ropes and algae substrate anchorage sites for mooring.
